Pixar Treasures Book Delayed!

The fine folks at Disney Editions let us know that the Pixar Treasure book that was scheduled to be out in November has now been pushed back to Fall of 2010.  We’ll anxiously await its release!

Product Description: The Pixar Treasures is a scrapbook of instinct and inspiration, experiences readers can touch, and visions that exist only in the imagination. It begins with a group of animators who were inspired by Walt Disney films. In the late 1970s and early ’80s, John Lasseter, Brad Bird, and Joe Ranft were hired into an apprenticeship program at Walt Disney Productions. The last of Disney’s golden age artists, including animators Eric Larson, Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, and Ollie Johnston mentored the young dreamers, and as Pixar later developed, their work would draw heavily from this direct connection with Walt Disney’s “Nine Old Men.” The tale continues with Pixar’s foray into computer animation, and the resulting success of Toy Story. With chapters on A Bug’s Life; Monsters, Inc.; Finding Nemo; The Incredibles; Cars; Ratatouille; and WALL*E, Hauser’s narrative covers the struggles, growth, and successes of an incredible animation studio. And it gives readers a sneak peak at the newest Disney*Pixar film, Up. Filled with unique removable keepsakes, The Pixar Treasures is an essential collector’s item for every Pixar fan.

G-Force Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack Review!

G-Force Blu-Ray / DVD Combo Pack Review

You can purchase this Blu-Ray/ DVD / Digital Copy Combo pack online today!

Synopsis: Buckle up for thrilling edge-of-your-seat action and laugh-out-loud fun in Disney’s family comedy adventure G-Force. Just as the G-Force — an elite team of highly trained guinea pigs — is about to save the world, the F.B.I. shuts the secret unit down. But these next-generation action heroes — Darwin, loyal team leader; Blaster, weapons expert with attitude to spare; Juarez, drop-dead gorgeous martial arts diva; and tag-along Hurley — won’t be stopped. Armed with the latest in high-tech spy equipment, and with the F.B.I. on their tails, the fur flies as they race against the clock to save the world. From the producer of the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy and National Treasure, and filled with high-octane action, daredevil stunts, cutting-edge special effects and outrageous comedy, G-Force is fantastic fun for the whole family.

Review: The first time I saw this trailer my wife and I looked at each other and laughed.  Not just because the film looked cute or there was a funny moment, but we knew instantly that our kids were going to just die with laughter.  Later that day we made sure our daughter and son saw the trailer and behold, they were cracking up.  From then on they were obsessed with seeing G-Force.  Unfortuantely for them, we don’t do a lot of movie theaters, so we waited for it to come to Blu-Ray.   Since dad gets stuff early for the site, they were counting the weeks.  Finally the moment came and let me tell you, this one hit the mark with not only the kids, but the parents too.

This film is packed with action and adventure.  The all-star cast includes notables like Bill Nighy, and yet the G-Force steals the show.  Another example of great computer animation placed with just the right voice actors.  The jokes are spot on and the fun is family friendly, which isn’t easy to find.

Disney has really brought life to the market with these combo packs.  I definately appreciate being able to have the blu-ray copy, DVD AND a digital copy.  That way I can load this on my iPod for the kids when we’re out and they can steal away to their room with the DVD and if anything happens to it..no big deal, since we have our family blu-ray copy safe and sound.  Its hard to watch movies without high definition anymore, and there really isn’t any point to buying DVDs these days.  Blu-Ray is the only way to go.

New Toy Story Comic Out Today!

Hey Pixar fans.

With Toy Story 3 coming next June the mania is starting to build.  Our favorite Pixar toons are, in fact, Toy Story, so we were thrilled to hear that BOOM Kids! was making an ongoing Toy Story comic!

(pictured above are Covers A, B and the rare Incentive Cover C Toy Story #0)

The writer of the book, Jesse Blaze Snider, dropped us a line and offered us an advanced copy to check out.   I am always skeptical about these sorts of continuations into already established universes, but I was pleasantly surprised by both Jesse’s writing and the artwork from Nathan Watson.   Here is a little peek inside the book and the appearance of a Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Character….Booster!!!

It shines through when a creative team is just doing a job and when they actually have love for a franchise, and its clear that this team loves Toy Story.   I’m going to highly recommend this title to everyone.  We’ll be posting regular updates on the book.

Go pick up Toy Story #0 at your local comic shop starting today!  There are two different covers, so pick the one you want or nab both (as I will be doing) for your collection!  There will also be a very rare cover C, which is a retailer incentive cover.  If you aren’t a comic book geek like me that might mean nothing to you…basically for every 10 issues that a retailer orders, they get only one of the incentive cover.

Tune in here tomorrow for a huge Toy Story giveaway!

Here is a press release regarding the comic:

December 3rd, 2009 - Los Angeles, CA - Why wait until next summer’s TOY STORY 3 to get your Buzz on? BOOM Kids! has your back! With the breakout success of last Spring’s TOY STORY miniseries, BOOM Kids! announces today that as of December, TOY STORY will launch as an ongoing monthly, starting with TOY STORY #0, written by rock star Jesse Blaze Snider!

“When I first saw TOY STORY years ago, I was in love,” said Snider. “It wasn’t just the idea that every toy has a secret life, but I was fascinated with the secret lives of those toys we saw in the film. It’s always been something in the back of my mind, Woody and Buzz and even the Pizza Planet aliens waiting to come out to play again. This is a tremendous opportunity and it will not disappoint.”

Jesse Blaze Snider is well known for starring in the popular MTV show, “Rock the Cradle” where he received acclaim from fans and critics alike for his “Back-Flipping” performances on the show. Fans will also recognize Jesse as a Music Host and VJ for MTV2, Fuse and AOL’s Top 11 Countdown.

When he is not writing comic books, Jesse is in the studio working on his first solo record. Growing up the son of famed rock star Dee Snider, Jesse attributes some of his greatest musical influences to watching THE MUPPET SHOW.

But Snider isn’t just a song and dance man. He’s a jack-of-all-trades with a background in comics, working on titles for both Marvel and DC, from MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS to the critically acclaimed vampire book from DC called DEAD ROMEO.

TOY STORY #0 is the tale of two Buzzes. When Andy receives another Buzz as a gift, old Buzz finds himself challenged by new Buzz! And only Woody can save the day.
The first four-issue arc is written by Jesse Blaze Snider, with interior art and covers by Nathan Watson.

TOY STORY #0 carries a Diamond Code of SEP090713.
