Synopsis: In this fascinating 10-part documentary series, compelling interviews with veterans who fought during the most defining time in the history of the modern world recount personal experiences and provide an extraordinary new perspective on the greatest military struggle the world has ever endured. Rare and, in some cases, previously unseen war footage from archives all over the world have been assembled in this poignant and sometimes harrowing documentary which captures the heart and spirit of the 20th Century’s greatest conflict.

1939-1945. Six years. Within the scope of history, six years is a relatively short period of time. But these six years entirely changed the world – producing battles and shaping lives beyond anything civilized man had ever known. Thirty-five million people died in this war and many of them were never in uniform. As for the men in uniform, these soldiers witnessed incredible events and performed duties that redefined bravery. There was no ambiguity regarding good and evil. When it all finally came to an end, the whole planet had to look forward to see what the future would bring, but they also had to look back to see what the world had learned.

Review: I’ve seen a lot of documentaries on World War II.   Who hasn’t, right?  Its not as though there is a shortage of them.  Mostly they focus on the Nazis and their reign of terror.  At this point its the same recycled footage…nothing new or interesting to say.  Until now.

WWII Remembered is a 10 episode series from Mill Creek Entertainment.    This is a fantastic set, full of interviews and lost footage that you’ve never seen before!  I’ve been waiting for a new documentary series on WWII and this is most definately it!    This one provides some unique perspectives from the veterans that were there and to finally see some footage that isn’t recycled over and over.

I have to say this was a very enjoyable documentary.  I highly recommend this to any WWII enthusiast.   Whether you’ve seen a lot of these documentaries or not I think that this one is very informative and definately worth a watch.  If you homeschool, this would also be a great perspective to give your  kids.
