Review: The first season of Californication was peppered with sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll!  Not to mention a lot of comedic aspects that gave the show its flavor.   If you’re looking for a second season that mimics this formula, then you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

Our main character Hank (played by David Duchovny of X-Files fame) has finally achieved all of his dreams from the first season.  He has his ‘true love’, a new relationship with his daughter and everything he wanted.  Unfortunately, he’s still Hank Moody and is unable to dig deep enough to find the maturity to handle and hold onto these amazing accomplishments.  A victim of his own cool, Hank continues to helplessly spiral himself into terrible situation after terrible situation.  I found the second season to be enjoyable, albeit different from season one.  Its got a lot more dramatic flair, which I felt was a good compliment to the first season.  We definately recommend this DVD set from Showtime and Paramount.  Its one for the collection!
